Playwright Fornes received one of her six Obie awards for this play, which she also directed in its original, innovative staging. Fefu and Her Friends explores the early days of feminism, as women were just beginning to find their voice and free themselves from male domination. L.A. Weekly called it “one of the most powerful plays written about the mysteries and shared hallucinations of the female experience.” Fefu and Her Friends is a promenade production which will involve audience members climbing stairs and standing for periods of time
