Flutist and composer Nicole Mitchell and the Cornish Contemporary Big Band, under the direction of Jay Thomas, present a concert featuring Mitchell’s compositions. Mitchell has been named “Top Flutist” in Downbeat magazine’s Critics Polls. Her compositions integrate new ideas with jazz, gospel, and African percussion to create a fascinating synthesis of “postmodern jazz.”
